Before a GLIDE driver can accept a trip, they pass a Checkr background check (criminal history and driving record), document checks, and a selfie ID check — and GLIDE staff review every application. Selfie checks continue about once every 24 hours while they drive.

The Process

How we verify every single driver

A driver can't go online until every one of these steps is complete and the application is approved.

Layer 01

Criminal Background Check (Checkr)

Our screening partner Checkr runs an SSN trace, national and county criminal record searches (7-year history), the sex offender registry and global watchlists. Results that need a closer look are reviewed individually by GLIDE staff.

Layer 02

License & Document Verification

Drivers upload their driver's license, vehicle registration and insurance (plus an inspection where required). Each document is read automatically to check names, dates and expiry against the application, then reviewed by GLIDE staff.

Layer 03

Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) Report

As part of the Checkr screening, we review the driver's driving record — license status, suspensions, DUIs and other serious violations.

Selfie ID Check

Every application is reviewed by GLIDE staff before approval. Only then can the driver go online.

Continuous Selfie ID Checks

Approval isn't the end. While a driver is online, the Driver app asks for a fresh selfie about once every 24 hours and matches it to their profile, so the person behind the wheel is the person who was screened.

Two-Way Rating System

Riders and drivers rate each other after trips. Based on the last 100 ratings (minimum 10), drivers below 4.30 are reviewed and below 4.00 may be suspended.

Built-In Rest Breaks

After 12 hours of driving, the Driver app requires a 6-hour break before the driver can go online again — so no one drives exhausted.

Safety Reports & SOS

Riders can report a concern from the app during or after a trip, and GLIDE safety staff review it. In an emergency, Emergency SOS calls 911 and shares your live location with our safety team.

A driver's account can be suspended while a safety report is looked into, and drivers who break our safety rules are removed from GLIDE.
